Indonesian researchers found the eucalyptus-based treatment can reduce the transmission of Covid -19

WartaBulukumba - A glimmer of hope refracted on the faces of several researchers in Indonesia. It is a reflection of hope regarding the eucalyptus-based treatment of The Agriculture Ministry of Indonesia that has been observed since a year ago.

The result of the research claims that the eucalyptus-based treatment is able to reduce the transmission of Covid -19. It is successfully passed clinical trials toward animals and humans in treating Coronavirus.

The Head of the Research Institute for Veterinary Research and Development of the Ministry of Agriculture, Indi Dharmayanti stated that the results of the research are highly encouraged. The active substances of Eucalyptol can be a potential treatment to fight against the virus.

"Based on the results of the molecular test, the docking is able to bind up Mpro of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, so it is difficult to be replicated," said Indi in Bogor on Wednesday.

Over the past year, Indi and her team have conducted further research using the SARS-CoV-2 virus on eucalyptus as of Vitro trials, toxicity, to clinical trials.

Generally, the results of the research showed that the eucalyptus-based treatment potentially reduces the number of particles and life force of the SARS-CoV-2 virus, as well as reduces the cell damage due to SARS-CoV-2 infection.

The results of the research were assessed based on the increase in CT Value of real-time PCR (RT-PCR) test, the increased value of Optical Density MTT test, and prevented the appearance of cytopathic effect (CPE) on cell culture. Per-inhalation toxicity trials on mice showed no clinical, pathological and histopathological changes in mice tested.
